Mission Statement:

The Temple Fire Company's mission is to protect life and property from loss, suffering, and damage due to fire, medical, and environmental emergencies within the community through public education, community involvement, and incident response.

The Temple Fire Company is a volunteer fire department which not only provides the obvious function of fire suppression, but also provides numerous other prevention and protection tasks. These tasks include emergency medical response, public information, fire safety inspections, public education, a fire prevention program within the Muhlenberg Township School District, fire training, as well as communication, facility, apparatus and equipment maintenance.

 


On Friday April 30th at 1559 hrs. Companies 10, 11 & 13 were dispatched to 1042 Saylor drive for a reported oven fire. Chief 13 arrived first on the scene reporting smoke showing from the exterior. Based on Chief 13’s report, Chief 10 then confirmed a working fire with extension to the cabinets. Engine 11-1’s crew assisted with Company 13 firefighters with fire supression, checking for further extension and ventilation of the residence. Company 11 cleared the incident at 1709 hrs.




On Saturday April 26th both Muhlenberg Township Companies 11 & 10 (Temple & Goodwill) held a joint structural burn session at the Reading / Berks Fire Training Center. Numerous burn evolutions were run including basement and multiple level fires.




On March 8th & 9th, the Temple Fire Company hosted a 16 hour State Certified Pump Operations I class which was conducted by The Bucks County Community College. Members from Temple Fire Company, Goodwill Fire Company & Wyomissing Fire Department participated in the class which included Hydrant & Drafting exercises, and all aspects of operating a pump. The Temple Fire Co. would like to thank Hondo Nobel of Bucks County Community College and Jeremy Searfoss of the Reading Fire Department for serving as Instructors for this class.




On Wednesday February 20th @ 1710 hrs. Companies 11, 10, & 13 were dispatched to 5370 Allentown Pike at WAL-MART for a possible structure fire. Engine 11-1 arrived first on location reporting a moderate smoke condition in the Grocery Entrance with no evacuation in progress. Crews located the source of the smoke being a working fire in the ductwork of a forced air insulator barrier in the Grocery Entrance area. Truck 12 was then dispatched to assist with roof access. Large amounts of debris were found smoldering in the ductwork and blower unit. Fire was extinguished and firefighters thoroughly checked the area for any extension. Companies cleared the Incident at 1846 hrs.




On Tuesday, January 22nd @ 1841 hrs. Companies 11, 13 & 10 were dispatched to 5203 8th Avenue in Temple for a possible chimney fire. Engine 11-1 arrived first on location reporting smoke and embers issuing from the chimney. Temple firefighters entered the residence checking for any fire on the 1st and 2nd floors. Company 13 members laddered the roof to access the chimney. 13-12, who was on the roof, confirmed a fire in the chimney and began extinguishment operations. No extension was found inside the building and the fire was extinguished. Companies went available around 1945 hrs.




On Tuesday, January 22nd @ 0236 hrs. Companies 13, 10, 11 & Ladder 1 were dispatched to 1909 King Street in Laureldale for a reported structure fire. 13-12 was first on location reporting a working fire with heavy fire showing on Side A. Company 13 firefighters stretched the initial attack line and Engine 11-1’s crew performed a search which was negative, then aided in fire suppression. Company 10 members forced entry into the lower garage and assisted with water supply. Firefighters from Companies 11 & 10 went to the roof via ground ladders and opened up a 4x4 vent hole. A secondary search was then performed after the fire was extinguished ans also was negative. Members from Ladder 1 (Mt. Penn) assisted with many fire ground operations. Company 11 cleared the incident @ 0425 hrs. January has been a very busy month for "THE ELEVEN HOUSE" firefighters, who have responded to 36 calls with 6 being working fires!

On Monday, January 21st @ 1650 hrs. Companies 10, 11 & 13 were dispatched to 27 Seminary Avenue for a reported structure fire. 13-11 arrived first on the scene and confirmed a working fire with heavy fire showing on the 3rd floor. Engine 11-1’s crew stretched the initial attack line while Ladder 10 was being set up for roof operations. Company 10 members also set up numerous ground ladders and Company 13 members stretched another 1 3/4" line in the adjoining exposure and checked for any extension. Fire was held to the 3rd floor bedroom. Firefighters from all three companies then proceeded with the overhaul operations. Temple cleared the incident @ 1952 hrs.

On Sunday January 20th @ 2123hrs. Company 11 along with Companies 12 & 32 were dispatched to 127 West Wessner Road in Maidencreek Township for a reported structure fire. 12-10 arrived first on location reporting a working fire on the second floor. Fire was knocked down by Company 12 (Blandon) firefighters prior to Engine 11-1 arriving on location. Temple firefighters assisted with checking for any extension and overhaul operations. Company 11 cleared the scene @ 2245hrs.


On Wednesday, January 16th @ 0936hrs. Companies 11,10 & 13 were dispatched to 150 Tuckerton Avenue at NGK Metals for a reported structure fire. FM66 arrived first on location reporting a working fire in a mobile office that was located at the rear of the facility. Engine 11-1’s crew made entry, opened up the floor and adjacent wall and extinguished the fire with an 1 3/4" hoseline. Firefighters from Companies 10 (Goodwill) and 13 (Central) assisted with the overhaul operations. Company 11 cleared the incident @ 1036hrs.




On Wednesday December 26th @ 1413hrs. Company 11 along with companies 13,10 and 1 for RIT were dispatched to 3346 Marion St. in Laureldale Borough for a reported structure fire. 13-10 arrived first on location reporting a working fire with heavy fire showing from the first floor Side B. Engine 13 arrived first on location and stretched attack lines as Ladder 10 set-up for roof work. Engine 11-1 was assigned to hit a hydrant and lay 5" supply line into the scene. Temple firefighters went to work assisting with fire suppression in the first floor and basement. "ELEVEN HOUSE" members also assisted with extensive overhaul operations. Company 11 cleared the scene at 1640hrs.




On Monday December 24th @ 2327hrs. Company 11 was redirected from a Carbon Monoxide Emergency with one confirmed deceased victim, to assist Company 10 at Rt. 61 at the entrance to the Clover Farms Dairy for a MVA with entrapment. 10-10 arrived first on location confirming heavy entrapment. Rescue 11 was next on location and began extricating one passenger located in the front seat. Rescue 11 cleared the scene at 0026hrs. just in time for Santa!




On Tuesday October 30th @ 0324hrs. companies 10, 11 & 13 were dispatched to 807 Rainbow Avenue for a reported structure fire. 11-10 arrived first on location and reported smoke issuing from the eaves then 10-10 confirmed a working fire. Engine 10’s crew stretched an attack line while Engine 11-1 laid 200’ of supply line up to Engine 10. Engine 11-1’s crew pulled the ceiling in the second floor hallway and located a fire in crawlspace. Companies extinguished the fire, checked for any extension and ventilated the structure. Temple cleared the incident at 0457hrs.




On Monday October 29th at 1346 hrs. Companies 11, 10 and 13 were dispatched to 8th Ave & Hay Rd. @ KIDSPEACE for a structure fire. Additional reports were being given of a manual pull activation, sprinkler system activation and additional calls of fire on the second floor. 11-11 arrived first on location and established Muhlenberg Command. Engine 11-1’s crew reported a moderate smoke condition on the second floor and located the origin to be a fish tank, cabinet and wall. Upon further investigation, the fire was extinguished by the rear of the fish tank melting and releasing the water, no sprinkler was activated. After firefighters checked for any extension, they then ventilated the building. 11-11 then terminated Muhlenberg Command and companies cleared around 1500hrs.




On Sunday October 28th at 1054hrs. Co. 11 and 10 were dispatched to 5370 Allentown Pk. in front of WAL-MART for a motor vehicle accident with reported entrapment and vehicle fire. 11-11 arrived first on location confirming a working vehicle fire and another vehicle on it’s side with two people entrapped. Firefighters from companies 11 and 10 extricated the two trapped occupants via partial roof removal and extinguished the engine compartment fire. Muhlenberg PD also assisted with the vehicle fire by using an ABC Dry Chemical extinguisher prior to any fire/rescue apparatus arrival. Companies 11 and 10 cleared the incident at 1150hrs.




On Thursday September 21st, members drilled on vehicle extrication operations. Such operations included vehicle stabilization, door/roof removal and dashboard displacement. By keeping up on our rescue techniques, it ensures proficient & professional operations on the street.




Company 11 firefighters were kept busy from September 13th thru September 16th running five motor vehicle accidents all with reported entrapment. The first coming on;

Sept. 13 at 1044hrs at Rt. 61 and Crosskeys Rd. for a Minivan vs. Dump truck, firefighters from Companies 11, 37, and Rescue 10 extricated two victims from the minivan. One victim later succumbed to their injuries.

Sept. 14th at 1813hrs. in front of the Temple WAL-MART at 5370 Allentown Pk. Company 11 and Rescue 10 firefighters extricated one victim from his vehicle after being hit on the driver side door.

Sept. 15th at 0619hrs. on the "On Ramp" from Rt. 61 south to Rt. 222 south for a Tractor Trailer roll over. The truck driver was extricated prior to companies arriving on location. Companies 10 & 11 controlled the scene until truck was righted about 3 hours later.

Sept. 15th at 1419hrs. on Rt. 61 in front of Arner’s Restaurant. Two vehicles in the roadway. Negative entrapment was confirmed. Firefighters from companies 11 & Rescue 10 controlled vehicle fluids and cleared a bit later.

Sept. 16th at 0204hrs. on Rt. 12 and Rt. 61, Rescue 11 assisted Company 10 on an MVA w/ entrapment involving four vehicles with one vehicle overturned & down an embankment. "ELEVEN HOUSE" firefighters assisted with minor extrication and fluid control and cleared the incident @ 0249hrs.

On Thursday August 30th members participated in a live burn session involving vehicles. Evolutions included engine compartment, passenger compartment, fully envolved vehicles, and fires in multiple vehicles. Members also practiced different techniques used to open engine latches and hoods. Temple firefighters would like to thank the Blandon Fire Company - Co.12, for standing by as a safety company and assisting with water supply.




On Thursday August 16th @ 1648hrs. Company 10 and Rescue 11 were dispatched to Rt. 61 & George St. for a motor vehicle accident w/ entrapment. 10-10 arrived first on location reporting 2 people entrapped in one vehicle. Firefighters from "THE ELEVEN HOUSE" assisted company 10 in the extrication and packaging of both victims. Rescue 11 cleared the incident @ 1710hrs.




On Monday August 13th @ 0735hrs. Company 11 along with Rescue 10 were dispatched to 1820 Mt. Laurel Road for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment. Additional reports stated a truck on it’s side. 11-12 arrived first on location reporting one State truck equipped with a 500 gal. tank and no placards on it’s side into a residence and two vehicles in the roadway. 11-12 then confirmed one person entrapped in the truck and one person entrapped in one of the vehicles. Upon arrival Rescue 10 was instructed to begin extrication of the person in the car while company 11 was extricating the driver of the truck. Extrication of the truck’s driver was prolonged due to the efforts to stabilize the truck and to ensure structural stability of the house which the truck was against. The extrication of the person in the car consisted of door/roof removal and a dashboard displacement. Rescue 8 was special called to assist with both ongoing rescue operations. All companies cleared the scene around 1000hrs.




On Saturday August 4th @ 1819hrs. Rescue 11 was special called to assist Company 37 at Ontelaunee Drive and West Shore Drive for a motor vehicle accident which was upgraded due to confirmed reports of entrapment. Temple firefighters assisted Company 37 firefighters with extrication and patient packaging. Company 11 cleared the incident @ 1915hrs.
